Meet Our Clinical Staff

The staff of the Olive W. Garvey Center for Healing Arts and the Bio-Center Laboratory is dedicated to meeting your individual health-care needs.

Our clinical staff, with a combined total of 244 years of clinical experience including 107 years of service at The Olive W. Garvey Center for Healing Arts, provides a novel approach to improving the health and quality of life for each patient/co-learner. Inside our doors, you'll receive competent, compassionate and coordinated care - the cornerstone of The Center's effectiveness. Our physicians, nurse practitioner, registered nurses and other staff look forward to serving in ways to improve your sense of well-being, energy and vigor.


Hugh Riordan, M.D. (1932-2005)
Hugh Riordan, M.D., was the founding doctor of The Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning International. Dr. Riordan was a member of the Sedgwick County, Kansas and American Medical Associations, the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, the American Geriatrics Society, the American Board of Preventive Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, the New York Academy of Sciences. He wrote, among other books and articles, Medical Mavericks vol. 1, 2 & 3. Click here for more information.

Ron Hunninghake, M.D.
Ron Hunninghake, M.D., is Medical Director of the Olive White Garvey Center for Healing Arts, the clinical division of The Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning International. He is dedicated to serving patients/co-learners at The Center to make better choices about their health and discover the underlying causes of their illness. Dr. Ron is a Family Practice physician, a board-certified member of the American Holistic Medical Association, a member of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians, the Kansas Medical Society and the Sedgwick County Medical Society. Rebecca K. Kirby, M.D., M.S., R.D.
Dr. Rebecca Kirby is the newest physician to join the Olive White Garvey Center for Healing Arts, the clinical division of The Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning International. Dr Kirby is board certified in Family Practice, has an inclusive background in nutrition and biochemical research, and is a registered dietitian. Click here for more information.

Chad Krier, N.D., D.C.
Dr. Krier is a board certified Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and a Chiropractic Physician. He is a native of Kansas (Great Bend) and is happy to make his home in Wichita. Dr. Krier is a 1999 graduate of Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas and a 2003 graduate of Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy. Glen Hyland, M.D.
Dr. Glen Hyland is an Oncologist in the Olive W. Garvey Center For Healing Arts. Dr. Hyland is a native of North Dakota and received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine-B.S.M. in 1971, and received his MD from Northwestern University Medical School in 1973. Dr. Hyland is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Radiology-Radiation Oncology, and the American Board of Holistic Medicine. Mary Braud, M.D.
Dr. Braud currently juggles her time between her fulltime practice in Littleton, Colorado; The Aspen Center for Autism in Denver, Colorado; and The Olive Garvey Center For Healing Arts, Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Braud received her Bachelor¹s of Science in Biology from Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA, June 1984 and her Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, in July of 1989. Educator Marilyn Landreth
The Director of Education, Marilyn enjoys the opportunity to address the specific needs of patients/co-learners and help them learn ways to improve their health skills. "The main reason I like working at The Center, is because it touches my heart in a special way," she says. "I also like being in a place where education plays a major role, both in educating and being educated. We all have many opportunities to learn valuable information through Health Hunters, our Lunch and Lecture series, the Mabee library and from each other." Marilyn has been with The Center since 1978. She is a certified practitioner in Herrmann Brain Dominance and Interactive Guided Imagery. A graduate of Wichita State University, she has a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts.

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Mavis
An advanced registered nurse practitioner with over 30 years of clinical experience, Mavis' work at The Center touches the lives of all patients/co-learners in various healing ways. "I am always finding new ways to improve health," she says. "Being able to share that knowledge with patients/co-learners is very rewarding. It is great to work with people who really want to change their health for the better." Mavis joined The Olive W. Garvey Center for Healing Arts in 1977 and is devoted to serving co-learners' individual needs by talking with people who inquire about the services provided by The Center and providing them with information they are seeking. Mavis' expertise includes psychiatric nursing. She holds an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner degree from Wichita State University.

Nurse Ann
A registered nurse with over 48 years of experience, Ann enjoys working in an environment conducive to learning and growing. I welcome each opportunity to utilize my skills in assisting co-learners on their journey to well-being and a healthier lifestyle, Ann says. Ann’s nursing background, prior to joining The Center, was primarily in mental health nursing. Ann is a graduate of Providence School of Nursing in Kansas City, KS and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University, Wichita, KS.

Nurse Jolene
A registered nurse with over 27 years critical care experience, Jolene came to The Center June 2004 after working in the ICU environment. The Center is such a positive place, she Says. We look at each person as an individual, not as a disease process. The one thing I have always enjoyed about nursing is the caring touch. I have found that, here at The Center. The people here are genuine. They care deeply about Co-Learners as people, as individuals. Jolene delivers IV Vitamin C Therapy, IV Chelation Therapy, along with other testing including EKG’s and Heidelberg testing. Jolene earned her nursing degree from Garden City Community College, Garden City, Kansas and is certified in Critical Care Nursing.

Nurse Marsha
A registered nurse with 28 years of clinical experience, Marsha enjoys the positive environment at The Center. Marsha has been with The Olive W. Garvey Center for Healing Arts since 1987. "I enjoy working here because we look at each patient/co-learner individually," she says. "We allow them to be an active participant in regaining their health and well-being." One of the ways she serves the special needs of patients/co-learners at The Center is by providing auricular therapy, a specialized approach to treating pain and improving health. She also performs tests such as EKG and infrared thermal imaging, a technique that measures body surface temperature. Her experience includes psychiatric nursing, office nursing and utilization review. Marsha is a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, Wichita, Kansas.

Nurse Sue
Sue has over 20 years of nursing experience, including dialysis, home health, assisted living, and hospice/end-of-life care. She has been a Certified Hospice and Palliative RN, and also an Approved Educator for Hospice staff. Sue graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University. Sue enjoys working with the staff and co-learners at The Center, mostly because "we all work as a team, including the co-learner, to improve their health status." She assists co-learners by administering IV Vitamin C therapy, IV Chelation therapy, and by assisting in varied other ways to make the co-learners experience a positive one.

Nurse Vicki
A registered nurse with 26 years of clinical experience, Vicki enjoys being involved in the many aspects of patient/co-learner care at The Center. "The Center is such a pleasant place to work," she says. "I learn so much about the importance of nutrition and vitamin supplements and how important they are to health." Vicki serves the specialized needs of co-learners to improve their health, including providing intravenous vitamin C and chelation therapies, EKG and infrared thermal imaging. Her expertise includes apheresis, a process that separates whole blood into component parts that patients/co-learners need. She earned her nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing, Wichita, Kansas.
